AN ALL AMERICAN MUSLIM

All-American Muslim logo.png   I just watched an episode on a reality show called AN AMERICAN MUSLIM about a traditional Irish Catholic man converting to Islam to marry his Muslim heartthrob who is from Lebanon.
At first,  i wanted to flip the channel but to see how serious and attentive the Groom was and his mom trying hard to be happy for her son made me for once forget about their differences. The reception of course didnt serve liquor, the bride had her white gown without the veil covering her hair.
There was the traditional Irish dance, father daughter dance etc. In a nut shell peeps, no matter how  welcoming the offer is  me i no go convert lol!
Why didnt the babe become a Catholic? Oh well, things humans do for love right?
Will you be willing to go that extra mile? Knowing, life might not be the same again.
Knowing you might face a possible social stigma which Muslims sometimes experience especially after 9/11.
At  some international airports years ago, I saw Muslims searched differently from other people. Gosh, if your name happens to be Muslim, you are going to get instant reaction of fear.
I remember waiting for a train in Europe and i saw a Muslim chap in a White Caftan with a knapsack he had at his back probably looked like a student.Fear gripped my soul and my first impression was OH GOD THIS GUY IS GOING TO BLOW! and the guy made things so difficult for everyone because he was pacing and playing with his pockets. When the train came, we all waited for him to  board and  Lol, we took the third train after just in case!
To cut a long story short, 9/11 and Boko haram has changed the way we think, act and infact live!
I just hope maybe one day we will  feel safe again especially for our children!
Happy week ahead!

***NB: The show which centered on the lives of five Lebanese American families who lived in Michigan was cancelled in 2012 after one season due to lack of good ratings and protests.
